Ever since a skin cancer scare last year, I take sun protection very seriously. Glossier just released a new sunscreen, Invisible Shield, that took over two years to make! It’s the perfect sunscreen for daily use plus it protects against pollution. It’s like a two in one. Sunscreens are traditionally very problematic. Most of the sunscreens in the current market are too oily or leave a white cast on the skin. Emily Weiss even wrote an article about how she used to hate wearing sunscreen on Into The Gloss! Invisible Shield solves all the products associated with traditional sunscreens. I’ve been testing out this sunscreen for the past week now, read more for my detailed Glossier Invisible Shield Sunscreen review!
What is it?
Glossier Invisible Shield is a sunscreen with SPF 35 that has UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum Protection. It’s made to be used in daily life!
- Active Microcapsules: little spheres containing UVA/UVB filters that protects your skin from sun rays
- Vitamin E, Vitamin P, Broccoli & Aloe Leaf Extract: antioxidants that limit the production of free radicals, which can damage skin cells
- Fermented Yeast & Vegetal Extract: protection against pollution by creating an invisible matrix on top of the skin but still lets skin breathe
Glossier Invisible Shield has a watergel texture that is quite unique in a sunscreen. It doesn’t contain drying alcohol or thick greasy ingredients so it absorbs into the skin so easily! It’s named Invisible Shield because it protects against the sun and pollution but is entirely invisible on the skin! It also smells really good, faintly citrusy, because of sweet orange essential oil.
How to Use
The pump makes it super easy to dispense product. It’s very mess free and easy to apply. I apply this sunscreen after my moisturizer and before my makeup, so basically in between my skincare and makeup. I follow up on Invisible Shield with the Glossier Skin Tint in Medium mixed with Dark.
Why It’s Important
90% of skin aging is caused by the sun. Free radicals destroy skin cells and an increased presence of them causes sagging and winkles. It’s so important to wear sunscreen because it reduces your risk of skin cancer and prevents premature wrinkles. If you use acne treatments or retinol, it is super important to wear sunscreen because those treatments make your skin more sensitive to the rays of the sun!
Overall Thoughts – Glossier Sunscreen Invisible Shield Review
As I mentioned before, I take sun protection very seriously. I’ve honestly tried dozens of different sunscreens but I’d have to say that this one has been the best so far. It took two years to develop for a reason. It’s so good! It doesn’t pill and plays so well with my makeup. It basically disappears into the skin after application so seamlessly. I am buying this for my boyfriend, my mom and my sister. I am not kidding, haha! How often should you wear sunscreen? Every. Single. Day.
